Hot Priest in Fleabag Has Alternate Ending!
The British show ‘Fleabag’ blew everyone away when it premiered in 2018. Pheobe-Waller Bridge’s groundbreaking creation had everyone talking. Many complained when it did not gain the awards it deserved for its first season. Though, that was immediately forgotten when Fleabag season 2 gained several awards at the 2019 Emmys. The drama-comedy show was so successful for many reasons. The wit, the depth, and the acting. It boasts an amazingly talented cast comprising of Phoebe-Waller Bridge herself, Sian Clifford, Olivia Colman, Brett Gelman, and Bill Paterson. Though, season 2 brought us a great new cast addition that managed to make the show even better: Andrew Scott. Scott plays the love interest of Fleabag and is referred to as the ‘Hot Priest’.
Sadly, the saga of Fleabag ended with its second season. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t stop obsessing about it. Recently, the creator of the show Phoebe-Waller Bridge, reveals that she had an alternative ending for Hot Priest in mind! Isn’t that exciting?
Phoebe Waller-Bridge Reveals There Was an Alternative Ending
We all remember the heartbreaking finale of Fleabag season 2. Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character meets the ‘Hot Priest’ for the last time. It is there where Andrew Scott’s character reveals that he is choosing God and sticking to his celibacy life as a priest.
In a recent interview, Waller-Bridge was asked if there was any ending where she ends up with the priest. To this, she responds with:
There was an idea for an alternative ending
What was the Alternative Ending for Fleabag?
The big million dollar question thus is what the ending could possibly be? Do they end up together and the Hot Priest abandons his priesthood for the love of his life in this alternative version? Do they end up running Fleabag’s cafe together?
Well, let your imagination run wild on what the alternative ending could be because Pheobe Waller-Bridge is not going to tell you what it was! And unfortunately, there’s not going to be a season 3 either.
Although it hurt to see that tragic ending, it was still enough to give you closure on the chapter of Fleabag’s life. It was realistic because you never really end up with the hot priest you fall in love with.
We’re still satisfied with the ending, especially the one where a fox comes up. The fox scene was especially difficult to film because the showrunners couldn’t get an actual fox to do the scene. Instead, they ended up using a CGI fox.
