It is as if everyone is celebrating Christmas in their own special way. Justin Bieber announced new music in 2020. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift released a Christmas themed song just in time for the holidays. Now, Ed Sheeran has some news of his own to share. However, it’s not as jolly as you may have hoped. The Shape of You singer announced that he is going on a music break this Christmas. The 28-year-old Ed titled the caption of his post on social media “BRB x” for Be Right Back.

Ed Sheeran’s Hiatus Letter To Fans

Ed Sheeran admitted that he had a busy schedule since 2017. With tours and releases, he expressed that he now wants to take “a breather to travel, write and read”. He also announced that he will not be using social media. Perhaps this the same situation as Pewdiepie leaving Twitter and YouTube for a while next year in 2020.

Ed Sheeran recently worked on his third album ‘Divide’. After ending his recent tour, he believes all of that changed his life in several ways. It is, hence, time to take a break from music and see some more of the world. You can find his short letter to his fans below:

The Guy Deserves a Break

Just like most fans, we also think that he deserves to be on a break. It is not like his songs will also disappear from the radio and the Internet. We all can listen to his songs that have topped the charts many times. In fact, has 12 songs that have reached number one place, including ‘Thinking Out Loud’ and ‘Shape of You’. Ed Sheeran has spent 79 weeks collectively in the number one position.

His domination since 2011 is so prominent that Official Charts Company crowned him UK’s artist of the decade. He also received the official chart record-breaker award. With this much service to fans and the music world, it is quite deserving of him to announce a hiatus. Especially after he ended a whole music tour. His tour for ‘Divide’ started on March 16, 2017, in Turin, and ended on August 26, 2019, in Ipswich.

In the end, Ed Sheeran promises his fans that he will be back with new music when he has “lived a little more to actually have something to write about.” He ends his note with “Lots of Love x”.
