Congratulations are in place for Gwendoline Christie by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau or Jamie Lannister. The nominations for the best supporting performance also includes our Brienne of Tarth from Game of Thrones. Nikolaj posted a photo with her on Instagram, after her nomination in Critics’ Choice Awards 2020.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s Heartfelt Message

On social media, Nikolaj posted the following picture with a hearty caption:

Gwendoline Christie’s selection comes in the category alongside the likes of Meryl Streep from Big Little Lies, and Helena Bonham Carter from The Crown. Laura Dern, Audra McDonald, Jean Smart, and Susan Kelechi Watson are also present in the race.

Coster-Waldau made sure she gets the respect she deserves by calling her performance as Brienne, as an “immaculate performance”. A hopeful and cheery Nikolaj even said “You deserve it. And to win it.”

The two, Nikolaj and Gwendoline, shared considerable screen time together in Game of Thrones. It happened when Brienne of Tarth took Jamie Lannister back to King’s Landing. Prisoner at first, the two eventually gained respect for each other. Due to this, Jamie gifted her a Valyrian steel sword, which she named as Oathkeeper.

Fans Are Happy As Well

“This means she has a decent chance to be nominated for a SAG award, maybe a Golden Globe, and even if she doesn’t win it’s still incredible. Nominated alongside Meryl Streep!” wrote one Reddit user after her nomination.

Gwendoline also seemed enthusiastic about her nomination and the congratulation Nikolaj gave her. She replied to his message with a long “Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

The Game of Thrones show is enjoying three more nominations. The show itself is nominated for Best Drama Series. Whereas, Peter Dinklage and Kit Harrington also received nominations for Best Supporting Role and Actor in drama series, respectively.

These nominations come after the show’s unsatisfactory ending, which angered most of the fans. In one argument, fans claimed that Nikolaj’s Jamie Lannister should not have died the way he did. Regardless, the show has been nominated 32 times, winning 12 rewards so far!
