Mindy Kaling Meets Malala Yousafzai At A Lunch
It looks as if Mindy Kaling and Malala Yousafzai have become really good friends after the two met at Kaling’s house to have lunch. Both celebrities had only kind words to say to each other. Both of them took to Instagram to post similar pictures with a hearty caption of their own. A Writer and a producer, Mindy is working on Hollywood projects whereas, Malala continues her struggle for equal education for girls.
Malala’s name first appeared when she started writing articles for BBC Urdu to describe life in Swat under the Taliban. The articles eventually led to her fame, which was not appreciated by the Taliban at all. In a failed attempt to assassinate her, an injured Malala was flown to the UK for surgeries. She has, ever since, found residence there with her family.
Mindy Kaling Feels Honoured
In an Instagram post, Mindy Kaling posted this:

I was honored to have my friend @malala over for lunch today and catch up while she was in town. I was so impressed to see how she balances life as a college student and as an icon! 130 million girls are out of school. @malalafund is fighting for a world where all girls can learn and lead. Planned or not, Malala Yousafzai was in Los Angeles when Mindy invited her over for lunch. Mindy admits that she is quite impressed to see how Malala manages her fame along with her studies. The young woman, Yousafzai is a student at Oxford University where she is pursuing a degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE). Mindy then turns towards the audience to reveal that 130 million girls are out of school, a figure that the Malala Fund is looking to decrease.
Later, Malala Yousafzai also posted the same picture with a caption of her own. Here is what she had to say:
Thank you so much for having me over for lunch! Your home is amazing and the food was so good that I even ate a salad, which I rarely do.”
Malala then remembered the fun moments from the lunch where met Mindy Kaling’s daughter, Katherine. She also expresses her love for Kaling’s father whom she thinks is cute and reminds her of her own dad.
She also expressed gratitude to Kaling for the friendship:
“…thank you for your friendship, for believing in me and for all you do to represent girls and women like us as smart, strong, confident and funny.”
During this Malala jokes that she even liked eating the salad that was present in the lunch, something she seldom eats. We hope to see more of Mindy Kaling’s meeting with the young Nobel prize winner.
