Disney’s Bob Iger Wants to Meet Martin Scorsese After His Marvel Criticism
The Irishman's Scorsese compares Marvel Studios with Theme Parks didn't go well with Iger.
Disney CEO Bob Iger is not happy with what The Irishman director thinks of the MCU. Time Magazine’s businessperson of the year, Iger, wants to meet up with Martin Scorsese. The news comes after Goodfellas director made some nasty comments about Marvel movies.
Disney CEO Bob Iger isn’t Particularly Happy with Scorsese
Looks like Disney CEO Bob Iger is still coming to terms with the comments made by Martin Scorsese regarding Marvel movies. The 68-year old businessman, film producer, and author shared his thoughts on the subject in a story by Time Magazine. Martin has been comparing the Marvel Studio with theme parks. While speaking to Empire Magazine Scorsese said:
It (MCU) isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.
While sharing that his and Scorsese’s reps are trying to schedule a meet-up, Disney CEO Bob Iger adds his thoughts to the saga involving The Irishman creator.
Marty’s comments about his company’s superhero movies were “nasty” and not fair to the people who are making the movies. If Martin Scorsese wants to be in the business of taking an artistic risk, all power to him. but it doesn’t mean that what we’re doing isn’t art.
Today’s filmmaking is market-researched, audience-tested, vetted, modified, revetted and remodified until they’re ready for consumption.
While defending Marvel and speaking about The Wolf of Wall Street’s Martin Scorsese, Disney CEO Bob Iger adds:
I don’t think Martin Scorsese has ever seen a Marvel film. Anyone who has seen a Marvel movie could not in all truth make that statement.
I think Disney CEO Bob Iger and Martin Scorsese should get together ASAP or this might turn into a serious beef.
