The recent influx of musicals adaptations has evolved many melodic anthologies into contemporary movies; one such example is Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “In The Heights” which has recently released its first trailer.

The First Trailer Of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s ‘In The Heights’ Is Out

The “Hamilton” creator and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda has publicized the first trailer of his musical film In The Heights on Thursday. Lin, in fact, collaborated with ‘Crazy Rich Asian’, film director Jon M. Chu and screenwriter Quiara Alegría Hudes to transform Miranda’s acclaimed Broadway musical into a proper film. The movie, however, is set to release on June 26, 2020.

The Trailer

The trailer released on Thursday showcased the surroundings of Washington Heights located in upper Manhattan, NewYork. The vicinity is popular for inhabiting Hispanic immigrants. Here lives the lead character Usnavi, from the Dominican Republic. Besides Ramos as Usnavi, Corey Hawkins is taxi dispatcher Benny, Leslie Grace, and Melissa Barrera are performing as Nina and Vanessa.

What fans conceive from the first glimpse of the movie is that the adaptation is tunefully corresponding to the rich and harmonious genre along with a sentient flavor that perfectly complements the Broadway musical. The saga narrates the course of three days, about the neighborhood of Washington Heights in New York City.

Lin Is Hopeful For His Movie, In The Heights

Lin is pretty hopeful for this Warner Bros.’ big-screen adaptation. Miranda addressed the attendees at a restaurant in the Washington Heights neighbourhood of New York City.

“I’m thrilled we’re here, and I’m thrilled we’re uptown, I started writing this show when I was 19 years old, six blocks away, where my parents live.”

He even praised the cast with his words.

 “This is the dream team. The dream, dream, dream team,”

In the Heights is a melodious tale focusing on a Hispanic neighborhood in New York City. Hamilton fame Anthony Ramos, in fact, is playing the bodega owner, Usnavi de la Vega. The other ensemble cast includes Lin-Manuel Miranda, Corey Hawkins, Jimmy Smits, Melissa Barrera, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Dascha Polanco and Stephanie Beatriz.

Miranda, however, is not playing Usnavi, rather he fits himself in the character of Piraguero. The Puerto Rican celebrity played the owner of a small cool piragua stands vending icy treats. He, hence, became the major competitor of Mister Softee.

The Broadway Musical, In The Heights

The Musical, In The Heights, in fact, was primarily staged on Broadway in 2008. The theatre performance, then, becomes a super hit presentation and received several Tony Awards. Later, Miranda created another musical blockbuster, Hamilton.

Lin Manuel Miranda is pretty sensitive about the settings as Miranda himself has grown up in Washington Heights with his Puerto Rican identity. Moreover, director John M Chu directed his first movie musical — Step Up 2: In the Streets — in 2008. This is, in fact, the year when In the Heights musical became a Broadway hit.
