Syco Entertainment and NBC release their Statement on Gabrielle Union Firing
The firing of She’s All That star, Gabrielle Union, became the talk of the town last week. According to some reports, Union was not happy with the racist acts and jokes on the hit NBC show. She was reportedly encouraging the staff to raise the issue in front of HR. Instead of addressing her complaints, the network relieved Gabrielle Union of her duties.
The network chose to stay quiet on the matter until recently. Earlier this Sunday, Syco (Simon Cowell company) broke the silence on the matter. Syco and NBC released a joint statement that said:
We remain committed to ensuring a respectful workplace for all employees and take very seriously any questions about workplace culture. We are working with Ms. Gabrielle Union through her representatives to hear more about her concerns, following which we will take whatever next steps may be appropriate.
The network confirmed earlier that Union and fellow judge Julianne Hough will not be a part of AGT’s upcoming season.
The ousting of Union was highly criticized by many Hollywood celebrities. Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo described it as a “Teaching moment” and urged fellow white girls to stand up with Gabrielle Union.
Will and Grace actor Debra Messing described NBC’s decision as “Disgusting”. American singer Ariana Grande also joined the movement and assured Gabrielle of full support.
There is no further information on the subject at the moment. Dankanator will keep updated on the matter.
