Iron Man 4 Won’t Be A Thing, Reveal Endgame Writers
One of the highest-grossing movies of the year, Avengers: Endgame stabbed every MCU fan in the heart by the death of the fan-favourite character, Tony Stark or Iron Man. If you weren’t ready to have your feelings hurt again, what you will read next comes with a warning. There won’t be Iron Man 4 and the writers have confirmed this decision. In short, it’s time to move on from Robert Downey Jr.
Played by Robert Downey Jr., Tony Stark started the Marvel Universe in 2008. The Iron Man franchise has 3 releases of its own, with the last one, Iron Man 3, making $1.3 billion globally. As a standalone franchise, Iron Man ranks as high as Blank Panther.
No Iron Man 4 Without Robert Downey Jr.
Avengers: Endgame revealed the death of Iron Man when he sacrificed his life to beat Thanos. If you really are a Marvel fan, you’d know that the MCU has always been filled with great twists and turns (Hint: Bucky). While some of us were hoping for Iron Man 4, writers confirm that it is not happening.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, writers of Avengers: Endgame Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus dropped some truth bombs:
“Whether you like all of the 24 movies or not, the capital that Marvel built up allowed them to do things like make a movie starring a raccoon and a tree, right? You would’ve already had Iron Man 4 if it was any other studio,”
McFeely further added:
“But they decided, no, we’re going to take chances on all these other things. To put a flag in the ground and say, we’re going to end something and take characters off the table, is, I think, kind of daring, but selfishly it was really great for us.”
Markus finally concluded by explaining that Iron Man 4 would have been one too many if Tony Stark would have survived. Because Tony Stark surviving meant that he had to be included in the next phase of Marvel. This would have required more movies of him.
Well, it does make sense. It would be an endless loop and fans would never get enough of Robert Downey Jr., and his cockiness as Iron Man. But this love will never ever die. Because a great man once said, I Love You 3000.
