Tom Holland Calls Jake Gyllenhaal The Best Actor To Work With
Jake Gyllenhaal lacks 'a switch'
Marvel co-stars Tom Holland (Spider-Man) and Jake Gyllenhaal (Mysterio) recently sat down with Coupdemain magazine for an interview. The on-screen enmity does not seem to influence their off-screen bromance. The star of Avengers: Endgame tells us why he loves working with Jake Gyllenhaal.
While talking about the two, Jon Watts (Spider-Man: Homecoming director) describes their off-screen relationship.
Tom Holland and Jake Gyllenhaal made each other laugh so frequently and with such intensity that they weren’t able to get through takes every now and again.
Why Tom Holland Adores Jake Gyllenhaal
In a recent interview, Tom Holland shares why he loves working with Gyllenhaal. Holland reveals that he already wanted to work Gyllenhaal for a long time.
I am very lucky with people I get to work with. I have these meetings with my agent every year — we sit down and we go through a list of actors I would like to work with and a list of directors I would like to work with and Jake had already been on the list … He’s amazing.
Moreover, the Spiderman star thinks highly of Jake’s acting abilities.
Every actor I have worked with has a “switch”. When they say action you can tell that they are acting. But Jake doesn’t have that. He’s seamless in and out of character. Sometimes it is quite disconcerting because you think he’s just talking to you, then, you realize he is doing the scene right now. I have learned a lot.
Tom Holland continues as he compares the relationship with a Lawn Tennis match.
If you are playing tennis with someone who is really good, you sort of rise-up. Working with talented actors leads one to think more about the minor details.
Hence, Tom was very much inspired by the Brokeback Mountain actor.
This off-screen chemistry might be one reason why Jake Gyllenhal chose Tom Holland for his upcoming Netflix project: The Devil All the Time.
It will be interesting to see the duo working together once again. Though it’s sad we won’t them together on the screen.
