Taylor Swift Gets Artist of the Decade Award at American Music Awards 2019
After winning six times this year at American Music Awards, Taylor Swift has surpassed Michael Jackson’s award count. Therefore, it is only fitting that the singer of the album 1989 and Lover is named as the “Artist of the Decade”. Moreover, she also received the Artist of the Year award.

This year Taylor Swift surpassed Michael Jackson who received 24 AMAs during his life. the 29-time winning pop queen received the decade award before the event itself, as reported by Billboard. However, her grandest award was winning the Artist of the Year award amongst worthy nominations like Drake, Post Malone, Halsey, and Ariana Grande.
An emotional Taylor Swift told the crowd that the year turned out to be a roller coaster ride for her. She said that she faced the hardest things in her life this year, as well as “some of the most amazing times”.
This can be referenced to her feud with Scooter Braun over the rights to her back catalogue of six albums. The dispute refused her to perform her old songs at the AMAs, marking her performance doubtful.

Taylor Swift took to social media, where she described the whole event in her own words, which unfortunately resulted in Braun getting death threats. However, Scooter Braun wanted to find a resolution and eventually, Swift was allowed to perform her old songs.
Apart from her two grandest awards, Taylor won four more in this year’s AMAs. She won Favorite Female Artist (Pop/Rock) and Favorite Album (Pop/Rock) awards from a pool of Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande. She won Favorite Artist (Adult Contemporary) with Maroon 5 and P!nk in the nominations. Taylor also won Favorite Music Video for her song “You Need To Calm Down”.
