Nicolas Cage Stars in an Upcoming Meta Movie As Himself
Ghost Rider, National Treasure, Gone in 60 Seconds, and The Rock, Nicolas Cage has done all sorts of movies. He has played a guy with his head on fire, and he has played as a hero disabling bioweapons. From finding Freemasons’ treasure to playing with time, Nick Cage has done it all. However, there is one role that he has not played yet: himself. This is about to change as well because Nicolas Cage is starring in an upcoming meta-movie where he will be playing as himself.
The New Nicolas Cage Meta Movie
Nick Cage is in final talks to play as himself in an upcoming meta-movie called “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.” According to IndieWire, Lionsgate is also holding its final talks to take up this project for production, beating larger bidders like Paramount and HBO Max.
If you look at the plot, you may agree that this meta-movie is the most Nicolas Cage movie ever. According to The Hollywood Reporter, in the story, Nick is chasing a role in a Quentin Tarantino movie. In actual, he has been vocal about wanting to work with him several times. The story says that he is caught up in a difficult relationship with his teenage daughter. Also, there is his doppelganger from the 1990s who tries to further ruin his day. This doppelganger criticizes Nick Cage for his poor performances and roles. In reality, if you may notice, this is somewhat agreeable. This is because Nicolas Cage’s last major role was in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.
Anyways, let’s continue with The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. In the story, Nick is also trying to sell his script to a billionaire which would help him pay off his debt. Unfortunately, the CIA tells him that the billionaire is actually a drug cartel leader. This forces him to work for them to gain intel on the billionaire. The drug lord has, apparently, kidnapped a daughter of Mexican politician (Mexico, drug cartel, billionaire, bravo guys).
This new Nicolas Cage movie can most likely name as Nick’s memoir. Reportedly, Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten are the co-creators of this film. These guys also co-created a 2017 Fox series called Ghosted. Sources (above) say that Gormican personally sent the script to Nicolas Cage begging him to star in the movie. Cage became attached to this idea, as it pays tribute to his entire career. The tone is kept similar to “Adaptation”, one other Cage’s meta-movie.
