Matt Damon (Carroll Shelby) and Christian Bale (Ken Miles) starer Ford v Ferrari is due to release as theatrical on November 15. James Mangold directed the movie which revolves around the commitment to build a revolutionary race-car for Ford and challenge Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966.
Ford v Ferrari | The Plot
The story revolves around Carroll Shelby (automotive designer) and Ken Miles (British race-car driver). The characters are beautifully embodied by Matt Damon and Christian Bale respectively. The tale of competition and friendship, sees the two battling corporations, laws of physics and the demons within. The American and the Brit thrive to make a revolutionary speedster for the automotive giant, Ford Motor Co. With this super-car, they plan on beating Enzo Ferrari at the famous 24 hours of Le Mans race-track in France.
When asked about the similarity between him and the character in Ford v Ferrari, Matt Damon had this to say during an interview with CBS:
I don’t think I’m like him at all. He was this bigger-than-life guy who, even if he beat the hell outta you in a business deal, you somehow still loved him. And I’m not like that! I’m very different from that.
Christian Bale Shares What It was Like Working With Damon
The two actors have never worked with each other. Ford v Ferrari is their first project together.
When asked about working with Damon in Ford v Ferrari, Christian replied:
Matt and I have actually been very sort of, you know, crossing paths very closely. We’ve had the same agent for decades. I know you think I’m making this up, I am very grateful to Matt because I wouldn’t have a career if it wasn’t for roles he passed on. There were many roles where I was told, ‘Oh, well, Matt doesn’t wanna do it.’ So they went, ‘Ugh, all right, what about Bale?
The star-studded cast of Ford v Ferrari also includes the likes of Roberta Sparta (Ferrari guest), Caitriona Balfe, (Mollie Miles), Jon Bernthal (Lee Iacocca) and Noah Jupe (Peter Miles).
