Looks like the Suicide Squad director, David Ayer, is having nightmares again. He is still coming-to-terms with how the movie came out-to be. In a post this weekend, he expresses his feelings once again. He thinks the soul of the story was originally Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Joker (Jared Leto).

David Ayer is Haunted by Jared Leto starer Suicide Squad

In an Instagram post this Sunday, the director shared his feelings. He thinks the final product deviated from the original story. David Ayer captions an unseen image of Jared Leto as Joker:

Movies are fragile. They are like dreams, haunting moments that run from your vision. They have their own logic and truth. If you change the destination after the trip is complete is it still the same journey? The spine of Suicide Squad was Harley’s journey. In many ways it was her movie, her escaping her relationship with Joker was the major emotional through line. A director holds an invisible compass in their hands. It guides every shot, every performance. That compass points to the destination.

Emphasizing on how Suicide Squad deviated from the original plot, David Ayer concludes:

If the desintation [sic] changes did the journey even happen?

David Ayer shares his feelings on Instagram with a never-seen-before picture from the movie.

‘It Hurts’! Says The Director

Since the release, Suicide Squad has been bombarded with bad reviews. It scored a mere 27%  rating on Rotten Tomatoes. A tweet by David Ayer from the time says:

Nothing hurts more than to pick up a newspaper and see a couple years of your blood, sweat and tears ripped to shreds. The hate game is so strong out there.

Ayer and the movie were widely criticized by most. Even though Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto’s performances met with praise. David Ayer directed Suicide Squad was able to bank-in a whopping $746 million at the box-office.
