Andy Samberg reportedly almost passed on the opportunity to star as Jake Peralta in Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The police comedy show has gained a lot of hype over the years due to its witty remarks and great casting and characters. Andy Samberg’s role as Detective Peralta is the show’s main attraction. This is thanks to the massively supporting roles from the likes of Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews, and Andre Braugher. Last but not least, Joe Lo Truglio and Chelsea Peretti as well whose performance were equally comical.

After six seasons, it is difficult for anyone to imagine someone else playing the roles of any character. From Chief Wuntch to Jake Peralta, we are now accustomed to what they gave us, and that seems like perfection now. However, what if you find out now that Jake Peralta could have been played by some other actor in Hollywood?

Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Cast Would Have Been Different

People would think that because Andy Samberg had done an outstanding job in Lonely Island and Saturday Night Live, he was more than ready for Brooklyn Nine-Nine. However, fans should know that Andy nearly passed on the chance to play the role of Detective Peralta.

After being with SNL for seven years, Samberg announced in 2012 that he was leaving the show. The demanding work routine also made him take a break from TV shows as he prepared himself for movies again.

Andy Samberg Just Couldn’t Pass It Up!

Andy Samberg told The Wrap that taking on a lead role “was too good to pass up.” Brooklyn Nine-Nine featured Andy as Jake, and the rest is history. The star went on to create six Brooklyn 99 seasons up till now.

The new season 7 returns on January 2020 on NBC. Reports are that there would be 13 Brooklyn 99 episodes this time.
