Olivia Wilde Earns Breakthrough Director Award at Hollywood Film Awards
Olivia Wilde certainly made an impact with her directorial debut with movie Booksmart. The movie revolves around two girls’ best friends that decide to party after years of focusing primarily on their academics.
The 97% Rotten Tomatoes rating truly speaks for itself for the movie. It was loved by many, even other notable celebrities such as Ryan Reynolds. Apart from the narrative and incredible acting, what made the movie great was the directing. Even though it was Olivia Wilde’s first run at it, she did not disappoint.
Olivia Wilde Thanks the Hollywood Film Awards
The Hollywood Film Awards think so too! Recently, they awarded Olivia Wilde the ‘Breakthrough Director Award’. Wilde took to Instagram to share her experience at receiving the award. In particular, she thanked the award giver, Jennifer Garner:
What a crazy honor to be in that room as a director. My 👑[queen] @jennifer.garner graced me with her presenting presence, and I blacked out and rambled a speech with lots of sports metaphors I have no business using. Thank you, Jen, for taking the time to be there and reminding the world of my proudest Louisiana stripping days on “Butter”.
Moreover, she thanked her Booksmart cast and crew for attending the event, including Kaitlyn Dever, Katie Rose Silberman, and Liz Lash. Along with them, she also expressed gratitude to her personal friends and agents who supported and helped her in this journey.
Recently, Olivia Wilde called out Delta Airlines for censoring LGBTQ scenes in her movie. This social media backlash made Delta revise their policies and stop the censorship.
The Hollywood Film Awards are an award ceremony that serves to award-worthy filmmakers and actors. Hopefully, this award will encourage Olivia Wilde to direct more movies. We’re waiting for the official confirmation for Booksmart sequel, Booksmarter.
