The star of the hits like The Departed and the Bourne Movie Series, Matt Damon, has a new movie in the pipeline. The Tom McCarthy directed, Stillwater will feature Damon as an oil-rig worker, who is trying to free his beloved daughter from a French prison. According to Participant Media CEO, David Linde:

The movie is a wonderful script, centered on universal themes of connection and the search for truth.

The story revolves around an oil-rig worker from America who travels to Marseille in France, to see his imprisoned daughter. Abigail Breslin is in for a crime she hasn’t committed. Matt Damon makes it his life’s mission to set her free amidst cultural differences and a complicated legal system.

According to some reportsMatt’s character, Bill Baker, develops a strong bond with a French woman (Camille Cottin) and her daughter as he fights the law and cultural barriers, in order to save his daughter.

The main lead Matt Damon is a known face from hit movies like Good Will Hunting. He is one of the highest-paid and highest-grossing actors. Numerous awards and accolades like, the Academy Awards, Golden Globes and Emmys, are part of his profile.

The Academy Award nominee and star of Raising Helen and Little Miss Sunshine, Abigail Breslin, plays the role of Matt Damon’s estranged daughter in Stillwater. You might have also seen Breslin in My Sister’s Keeper, August Osage County, and TV-Series Scream Queens.

The Matt Damon starrer movie is co-written by Thomas Bidegain and Noe Debra. Late Steve Golin, will also be given credit as the film producer.

The movie is still in the production phase. So, as of now, there’s no official release date.
