2019 has been a cursed year for kpop in all. First, there was the accusation on Hanbin, leading him to leave Ikon and now it’s Wonho from Monsta X.
Wonho Leaves Monsta
In an official statement, Starship Entertainment explained that Wonho is permanently leaving MONSTA X. Also, the group will be promoting as six members starting today. The decision was based on the singer’s wishes to avoid causing trouble to MONSTA X.

Why Has He Left?
For the past few weeks, all kinds of rumors had been circulating about Wonho. However, the nail in the coffin was Han Seo Hee’s claim that he had served in juvenile detention. Amid the controversy, netizens took to Jung Da Eun’s social media, accusing her of driving illegally as a minor without a license and calling her a “murderer in training.” Han Seo Hee responded to the comment, stating,
“Yeah, but do you know that both [Wonho] and [Jung Da Eun] didn’t have driver’s licenses? What can you do now? [Wonho] is a murderer in training too.”
After Wonho’s withdrawal from the group, she took to her Instagram and wrote,
“Hey~~~! Even if you leave, you need to pay back Da Eun~~!!! Cough up the money, you bastard.”
Fans are Enraged
Kpop fans are enraged at Wonhon’s untimely departure from the group. They’re calling it unfair and are accusing the label of exploitation. Though, they are just justified as Wonho has been let go on the basis of baseless rumors. The singer has been constantly apologizing for everything he’s done in the past in his childhood. However, that does not means that everything Han Seo Hee has said is true.
Wonho needs time. Wonho needs break. Wonho needs to heal. Wonho didn't let us down. Wonho always makes us proud. Wonho shouldn't leave.

the only comeback we need is wonho come back. #원호탈퇴반대 Please reconsider your statement. Please have another discussion. Just, please, do anything to make him come back to us.
Monsta X is always 7.
There is no such thing as 6,5,4,3,2,1.
Just, 7. https://t.co/pCFsTgDk8k

Wonho Writes Letter to Fans
Following his departure from the group, the kpop idol wrote a handwritten letter to console his fans. In the letter, he gives reasons as to why he’s leaving and thanks to the fans for the support.
Here’s the English translation of the letter he wrote in his native language.
This is Wonho.
First, I would like to apologize for not being able to keep the promise that I would only provide good memories to our fans and for causing them pain. Furthermore, I apologize for causing concern to many people due to my personal issues.
I have received undeserving blessings and love while promoting as a MONSTA X member. I sincerely thank you for making precious memories for me. To the members who worked hard with me and stayed with me, I would like to tell them that I’m thankful and that I love them. [I would also like to show them] my apologetic heart.
There was a time when I was immature and have made big and small mistakes, but after becoming a trainee and making my debut, I stayed on track and worked hard to avoid being ashamed of myself.
I am announcing that I am leaving MONSTA X today.
I am apologetic for causing harm to the members due to the unfortunate issues related to me. More than anything, I am sorry for disappointing my fans who believed in me. I have reached this decision after seeing many people having a hard time because of me.
In addition to our members, I once again sincerely bow my head in apology to the fans who have believed in me and supported me.
Please give strength to MONSTA X.
The members have nothing to do with me.
I carefully ask that you at least give support and encouragement to the members.
They are people who are too good to stop and get hurt like this because of someone like me.
I am so thankful and apologetic to the staff, members, and lastly our fans who have allowed me to enjoy such happiness until this point.
