Rick And Morty’s Producer J. Michael Mendel Has Passed Away
Today was a sad day for the Rick and Morty cast and crew. The producer Rick & Morty’s Producer J. Michael Mendel has passed away at age 54. He was the recipient of four Emmys and produced not only Rick and Morty but also The Simpsons. The producer has died due to natural causes.
The official account of Adult Swim, a network where the popular animated series Rick and Morty airs, posted a statement about it:
The network sent their condolences to the family and friends of J. Michael Mendel. Moreover, the co-creator of Rick and Morty expressed his emotions as well. On Twitter, he stated:
I don’t know what I’m going to do without you by my side Mike. I’m destroyed.
Mendel has had quite a successful career. After his post on The Tracey Ullman show, he joined as a producer for The Simpsons. His name was on the producer credits section for about 207 episodes of The Simpsons. Moreover, he was also a line producer at the production company Gracie Films and Fox.
In 2018, he was associated with Rick and Morty as a line producer. He’s even served as a producer for major movies like Jerry Maguire and Big. J. Michael Mendel also produced other notable shows such as The Critic, The Pitts, Drawn Together, Sit Down Shut Up and Good Vibes.
He was the husband of casting director Juel Bastrop who’s also scored an Emmy.
