Just Mercy | Story & Plot
The movie is based on bestseller autobiography Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption by Bryan Stevenson. It is a powerful and thought-provoking autobiography of young lawyer Bryan Stevenson, played by Michael B Jordan and his selfless battle for justice.
Bryan graduated from Harvard and heads to Alabama to defend those wrongly accused, with the support of local advocate Eva Ansley (Brie Larson). They choose their first case of Walter McMillian (Jamie Foxx) who was sentenced to die for the murder of an 18-year-old girl in 1987.
Bryan and Eva were fighting the racial bias that kept innocent people like Walter McMillian, and others like him, jailed. He was eventually freed when his conviction was overturned by the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals in 1993.
