The Boys Season 2 Release Date, Plot Line And More

0 1,759

Amazon Prime’s The Boys was released this weekend and it has everyone talking. Taking a different route, The Boys shows how the superheroes may not always be as pure and selfless as we thought. Based on a comic book series, it is a dark comedy series that revolves around a group of five people who have taken on the challenge of taking down the corrupt superheroes and the Vought corporation that runs them.

The Boys season 1 finale shows us that corrupt Vought corporation was injecting compound V into babies to turn them into ‘supes’. Moreover, they were the reason Billy’s wife’s pregnancy from Homelander was kept as a secret for so long. Now, we still don’t know whether Becca was raped or not. But she’s back and Billy knows.

The Boys Season 2 Release Date

After a cliffhanger like that, we definitely needed a season 2. Guess what? It’s already been renewed. Amazon Prime would not let this hype die down quickly and most likely the next season of The Boys will come around late 2020 or perhaps early 2021.

Cast for The Boys Season 2

Our main cast will probably reprise their roles. The initial season we were introduced to the flawed antiheroes Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), Frenchie (Tomer Kapon), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) and The Female/ Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara). We also met the Seven: Homelander (Antony Starr), Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), Starlight (Erin Moriarty), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), The Deep (Chace Crawford), Translucent (Alex Hassell) and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell). And let’s not forget Vought’s manager Madelyn Stillwell (Elisabeth Shue).

Since, Madelyn was killed by Homelander and Translucent by Hughie, they won’t be returning in the second season. We’ll probably see more of Becca Butcher (Shantel VanSanten) when it was revealed she’s still alive. Mr. Edgar (Giancarlo Esposito) will probably take on the role of Vought’s manager because of Stillwell’s death. Moreover, it is also confirmed that Aya Cash is going to join the cast as Stormfront. Stormfront’s character was originally a male but they changed the gender in the series. This character is not a hero by any accounts. Rather it is a racist leader who will form the Payback group in The Boys universe.

Where Will The Story Go in Season 2

We will probably see more of how Homelander will fare as a father to a son he never knew existed. It’s unlikely he will suddenly turn into a morally good character because he murdered Madelyn Stillwell. But Homelander will probably play a key role in the plot of the second season.

We are going to see how Billy’s motivations change because now he knows his wife Becca is alive. His priorities might change and he’ll focus more on reconnecting with Becca than exacting revenge on The Seven. This plot point was not included in the original comics so we know that show makers are not afraid of trying something new.

We know Starlight came to rescue Hughie and the rest of The Boys when A-Train was going to kill them. Hughie and Starlight’s relationship may come back and evolve in a more nuanced way. Meanwhile, we’d have to see if Mother’s Milk gets to go back to his family or not.

The most exciting thing would be to witness how our main group of heroes, The Boys, plan missions where they are collectively working together and there are less arguments this time. This was an important part of the comic books so it is basically the essence.

Plus, things are going to change at the Vought corporation now that Mr. Edgar will take charge. But we have a hunch that The Seven will get more invincible. There are hopes that Queen Maeve will turn over to the good side but we’ll have to wait and see. We also have to see whether the US army is going to allow supes into the military armed forces or not.
