Earlier this week, MTV Video Music Awards (VMA’s) announced their nominations and kpop group BTS got 4 nominations. Though the fans are not happy with this news. However, the fans of the group (a.k.a Armys) are mad over the inclusion of best kpop category and the group not getting nominated for any major award.

BTS Fans Armys Label VMA’s as Xenophobic

The fans of the kpop group BTS are criticizing VMA’s due to the award shows snubbing BTS. BTS has gone on to break records and make a name for themselves in the US music market. The group according to their fans is beyond kpop and deserved nominations in for major awards.

We cannot fault the fans over their behavior as they do have a point. The seven member group had broken the record for the most viewed music video in 24 hours with their song Boy With Luv. This surely should have been enough for considering them for Video of the Year award. Also BTS’s sales are skyrocketing but yet no artist of the year nomination for the group.

Other kpops fans are also generally mad over the inclusion of best kpop category. Many kpop groups namely Blackpink, Monsta X, NCt, Twice and Red Velvet have been actively promoting in the States. Groups like Twice and Red Velvet did not get nominated and fans are furious over this.
