The popular movie Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks is now getting a new remake by Bollywood. The Oscar-winning movie will return as a Hindi language film titled Lal Singh Chadha. Tom’s role in the movie will be taken up by famous Bollywood star Aamir Khan who is also producing the movie. While there are not much details out, the announcement was made by Khan himself on his 54th birthday at an event in Mumbai.

Bollywood To Produce a Remake For Tom Hanks’ Movie ‘Forrest Gump’

Indian superstar Aamir Khan announced playing Tom Hanks role in the Bollywood remake of Forrest Gump. The movie titled Lal Sigh Chadha will be produced by his company Aamir Khan Films along with Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. The actor claimed that they had officially purchased the rights from Paramount. While making the announcement, Khan shared that,

I have always loved Forrest Gump as a script. It is a wonderful story about this character, and it is a feel-good film. It is a film for the whole family.

The actor further shared that in order to take up the role of Tom Hanks in the new movie, he would have to lose 20 kilograms. While filming starts in October for the Forrest Gump remake, Khan believes he needs to be slim and lean for the role.

Forrest Gump was a 1994 classic which secured a total of six Oscars in its name. Tom Hanks even got one for best actor in the film. The movie has been based on a 1986 novel from Winston Groom on the same name.

Other details about the cast have not been revealed yet. But the film will be all set for its premiere next year. Let’s wait and see if more details slip out as the Forrest Gump remake begins filming.
