A Discovery of Witches had debuted its freshman season to positive reception in the U.K last year. Later, in April, a few U.S networks stepped in, to syndicate the popular program for national television, eventually leading. to a boom in viewership and critical ratings for the show. The critical scores for the All Souls Trilogy adaptation, which were already astounding, grew even more impressive. And now that the show is constantly filling the air with exciting updates about its upcoming season 2, the user-approvals have surpassed the ordinary.

What Are Critics Saying

The Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode starrer now ranks #5 on Rotten Tomatoes in its list of the best shows of 2019. Here is what critics have to say about the show.

According to The Atlantic’s Sophie Gilbert, the show “has its own parlance, its stunning vistas of rural French hills and yachts covered in polished teak, and its central story of forbidden love, defined by a dynamic that I can only describe as “sexy-sexy sex.”

Dan Flenberg, a critic at The Hollywood Reporter says, ” It becomes much more than a Matthew Goode series and, if we’re being perfectly honest, it’s probably the better for it and surely the more satisfying to its target audience.”

A total of 27 top critics have approved the show. In fact, the source material’s original writer Deborah Harkness has also defended the adaptation.

A Discovery of Witches is due to return later this year for its season 2, albeit with a few cast and crew additions. Adelle Leonce has joined the show as Phoebe Taylor, the new love interest of Matthew’s son Marcus (Edward Bluemel). Aside from Taylor, popular Marvel series director, Farren Blackburn has also been brought. onboard to helm multiple episodes for the second season. While there is no trailer or release date for A Discovery Of Witches Season 2 yet, both will. expectedly arrive soon now that the show has started filming its second season.
