The Dwayne Johnson Starrer movie, Red Notice, has, recently, transported from Universal studio to Netflix. Ryan Reynolds joined Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot for the international action movie ‘Red Notice’. This Rawson Marshall Thurber’s 2020 movie has moved surprisingly. The Universal studio showed this carefree attitude to the movie for which it had won bidding rights as a crowning achievement in June 2018.
Why Red Notice Moved From Universal To Netflix
According to Deadline, Thurber presented his final draft last month to Universal. When he pitched the budget of Red Notice, the studio authorities showed no progress for the shooting. The ultimate deal is of $130 million, including $20 million for the popular star Dwayne Johnson and another big figure for the director.
The movie, in fact, demands a prompt beginning of the filming if it is meant to hit the theaters on Nov. 13, 2020, as previously planned. Universal Studio, however, paid no attention to the urgency. The Universal studio, in contrast, announced Monday that it’s going to release an untitled film on Nov. 13, 2020.
Netflix, The New Destination
On the other hand, the streaming giant Netflix was all set to grab the rights of Red Notice and accept the cost of this high-profile project instantly. It’s a big step of Netflix to add another original-star-driven film to release in global theaters.
As a matter of fact, Universal might have stepped back after the consequences of Thurber’s last disappointment ‘Skyscraper’. The movie grossed just over $300 million globally, for a film with a $125 million filming budget.
Global Thriller Red Notice
The film, Red Notice is an international action thriller movie. It chases the most wanted art thief in the world. There are several global locations where the movie would be filmed. It would be the second big film for both Netflix and Reynolds, who recently wrapped up his 6 Underground.
Secondly, Thurber has already hinted about Ryan Reynold’s addition to the cast of Red Notice. On the film promotion, he revealed about presenting the third lead in Red Notice, along with Johnson and Gadot.
Thurber, thus, released a statement on the issue, “I’m beyond thrilled to be making ‘Red Notice’ with Scott Stuber and Netflix — a company that believes in filmmakers and big ideas for a global audience.”
The Rock Johnson Movie Will Soon Begin Filming
Red Notice perhaps would be the ultimate collector for Netflix. The film might start production next year. Yet, it is still vague when Netflix will release the film, whether the streaming service will wrap up the shooting for 2020 release or it will exploit the summer of 2021.
Whatever be the fate of ‘Skyscraper’, this upcoming package of “ Rock” Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds in a world-wide action thriller seems to snatch the box office collections at its premiere.
