Game of Thrones Prequel Starts Shooting
It’s official that the Game of Thrones prequel is underway! The followup for HBO’s fantasy drama is already filming for a pilot release this summer. While we have been eagerly waiting for this since Game of Thrones ended, this one will have some interesting similarities to the original show. But the story is set thousands of years before. As of now, we just have our first look into the prequel which stars Naomi Watts in the lead.
Everything About the Game Of Thrones Prequel
This upcoming series has started filming in Northern Ireland which remained the hub of GOT until its finale in season 8. But as of now, we do not know if the prequel will be filming in any other locations or countries.
This upcoming prequel is from show runner Jane Goldman from X Men First Class along with author George R. R Martin and director S.J. Clarkson. According to Martin, the story for the upcoming show is set thousands of years before the events in GOT. To give out a rough estimate, he claimed it could be 5000 years before the events we witnessed previously. He described that at that time Westeros would be a completely different place. Martin also revealed that,
Westeros is a very different place. There’s no King’s Landing. There’s no Iron Throne. There are no Targaryens — Valyria has hardly begun to rise yet with its dragons and the great empire that it built. We’re dealing with a different and older world and hopefully that will be part of the fun of the series.
The author has suggested that Game of Thrones prequel will be titled The Long Night which was also an episode from season 8. The star cast includes Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Miranda Richardson and Josh Whitehouse. Others including Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Ivanno Jeremiah, Alex Sharp and Toby Regbo have also joined.
We do not have an exact release date as of now, but hopefully it will air by late 2020.
