Clarence Avant, the man whom Barack Obama describes as “the bridge from a time where there was no opportunity to a time when doors began to open”, has landed a well-deserved approbation at Netflix. ‘The Black Godfather’, an original Netflix documentary featuring the prestigious uncensored mentor and behind-the-scenes rainmaker in music, film, TV and politics, arrived on Netflix June 7th. The documentary convokes big wigs including former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, and several A-list celebrities including Jamie Foxx, Quincy Jones, and Snoop Dogg among others. Williams has composed a six-minute track, ‘Letter To My Godfather’, for the Reginald Hudlin documentary. Through the six minutes of his unwavering number, Pharrell Williams croons over synths, guitars, and an Auto-Tuned voice. Hugo also energetically participates in execution and writing of the song. The film’s soundtrack features the song with Neptunes’ partner Chad Hugo‘s production work. Letter To My Godfather is a lyrical composition and celebration of Avant’s numerous accomplishments over the years. Pharrell Williams; in fact, himself acknowledges the musical prodigy’s various services in empowering people of colour around the world. He has even tweeted about the same.
