Remakes either work or they don’t. Because obviously the first movie is always better – at least for us. But we might have to change our stance on that because Mindy Kaling is coming out with a very diverse take on 4 Weddings and a Funeral. The female lead is Nathalie Emmanuel and the limited web series of this remake would be released on Hulu.

The First Look of Nathalie as Her Character

A few days ago, through EW, the first look of the series was shown. They’re only two pictures but we’re excited and can hardly wait for the series to premiere. The female lead for the show, Nathalie Emmanuel took to her Instagram and posted the pictures too. She wrote in the caption,

Here’s a first look at @mindykaling’s romantic comedy @fourweddingsandafuneral, a ten part series for @Hulu! A reimagining of the 1994 movie of the same name, starring Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell. Out July 31st 2019…. but if you can’t wait ‘til then, get some inside info about some of the characters by going to @entertainmentweekly now!

Everything You Should Know About the Remake

‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ will revive and redefine a traditional romantic comedy in a contemporary sense. The plot for the remake is much like it’s original movie. The web series will follows four American friends who reunite for a fabulous London wedding. But after a bombshell at the altar throws their lives into turmoil, all hell breaks loose. In a nutshell it’s going to have four weddings… and a funeral.

In the lead roles for the cast are Emmanuel and Nikesh Patel. The creator and the writer of the limited web series is Mindy Kaling and the romantic comedy mini web series is set to premiere on July 31 2019 on Hulu.

Why We’re Excited and Why You Should Be Too

If we’re quite honest, we’re not big fans of remakes. They somehow always end up ruining the original film. But for just this one time, we’re actually looking forward to watching this remake of a hit 90’s romantic comedy. The reason being that it actually seems very diverse and that is a new take on the original. Lets be honest, the original Hugh Grant’s 4 Weddings and a Funeral is perhaps the most whitest movie ever made. To see people of color and different cultures being cast and portrayed is a step forward for the industry. The creator and the female lead agrees with us.

The Game of Thrones star in one of her interviews regarding this we series has said,

Let’s be honest, Four Weddings is one of the whitest movies ever. There weren’t many of us that you saw on screen in movies of that era.

Kaling also said in an interview with EW,

I know so many beautiful, funny, interesting African-American girls and so many handsome, hilarious British-Pakistani and British-Indian guys and I don’t think anyone would put them together if I’m not going to do it.
