Vincent Leonard Price Jr. was born today and celebrities, twitteratis and people from the film industry remember his exemplary work from that has managed to leave a fine legacy years after the demise of the actor.
Who is Vincent Price?
Vincent Price was an American actor born near St. Louis, Missouri on 27th May 1911. After earning a degree in Art History and English at Yale University, Price set his interest in the fields of art collecting, art counselling and most significantly, acting. He was best known for his thrilling roles in horror movies. The actor has been active on stage, television, and radio, starring in over a 100 films alone. Other genres the actor has been a part of include drama, noir, mystery, thriller and comedy. Apart from his career in film and television, Price was also a notable gourmet cook.

Legacy
Price was, however, no ordinary actor. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for motion pictures and a separate one for television. The actor also has a star on the St. Louis Walk of Fame. A museum at East Los Angeles College has been named as The Vincent Price Art Museum, after the legacy Price had left behind.

Work and Career
The first of Price’s horror movies was a 1939 Boris Karloff film Tower of London. The actor later became best known for his spectacular performance in the movie. His work in radio included the character Simon Templar he played for the show The Saint, a show that ran in late 1940s and early 1950s. His roles in 1950s included the male lead in House of Wax as a serial killer-sculptor. The movie landed in the year’s top ten at the North American box office. Other notable performances included in movies The Mad Magician, The Fly and its sequel Return of the Fly.
I remember watching Vincent Price doing an interview and someone asked him to do his laugh, and without hesitation, he responds:

Later Work
In early 1970s, Price hosted The Price of Fear, a horror series he did for the BBC Radio. His last significant film work was as the inventor in Edward Scissorhands, directed by Tim Burton. However during the shooting of his final project, Price’s health began to decline severely reducing the time he could devote to the movie. He later died of lung cancer on October 25, 1993.

Vincent Price continues to be one of the most celebrated actors in Hollywood. His fine contribution to the film industry renders him a title of no less than a legend. His remarkable talent with playing difficult roles like that of a serial killer or a mad scientist has continued to surprise not only audiences from his time but even people today.
