Elementary And Life In Pieces Cancellations: Fans Demand Renewals After Thursday’s Bumper Ratings
Two weeks ago, in a dreaded bloodbath, CBS axed at least 10 TV dramas and comedies. The house cleaning came in advance of the Fall line-up Upfronts, as CBS wanted to present a rechristened image to grip more viewers. CBS wasn’t; however, the only TV network to participate in the bloodbath. ABC, Fox, and NBC too pulled the plug of several TV shows. But CBS’ slaughter outnumbered all their killings. Yet, if we look at the ratings, several cancellations make on CBS make sense. What doesn’t make any sense; however, is CBS’ decision to cancel Life in Pieces and Elementary. And This is something that fans are clearly angry about.
Recently, CBS tweeted glee over the performance of Life in Pieces and Elementary in viewers and key demos.

Thursday Ratings: Elementary Season 7 And Life In Pieces Season 4 Rule
Elementary opened its seventh and final season with a 0.5/3 in key demos, leading the 10 pm slot. Elementary Season 7 pulled in 4.1 million viewers in its first episode, a million viewers up from its last season’s finale. Shark Tank (ABC) and Hollywood Game Night (NBC) followed closely with 2.90 and 2.10 million viewers respectively.
Life In Pieces also topped the rating chart in the 18-49 key demos. Scoring a whopping 4.46 million viewers with a 0.6/3 ratings share, the comedy held firmly against other rating mammoths, including another CBS comedy, Mom.
CBS’ delight over the shows’ performance had fans puzzled. Earlier this month, CBS canceled Life In Pieces, making Season 4 its final run. The procedural crime drama, Elementary is also living its dog days on CBS. The network had canceled Elementary last year, announcing that Season 7 will mark the show’s culmination.
Fans of the shows are evidently angry with CBS for ending the shows while they still remain strong performers. After CBS tweeted its rating update on Thursday, fans took the comments section by storm, condemning CBS for canceling two brilliant shows.

Canceled TV Shows 2019 Elementary And Life In Pieces’ Case For Revival
During its freshman run, Life In Pieces was the second most-watched show on CBS after Big Bang Theory. Additionally, although Elementary has had a long run, CBS has a reputation for its never-ending procedurals. If NCIS and Hawaii Five-O can be around for multiple decades, Elementary also deserves one last hurrah on CBS.
The list of TV shows CBS has canceled in 2019 is long and shocking. While some of CBS’ cancellations were highly anticipated; Salvation was a dead-show-walking anyway, and Code Black too never showed signs of a considerable life expectancy. Others like Fam’s lead star Nina Dobrev was hopeful that her sitcom would survive, and Murphy Brown had promised a better season.
