George R.R. Martin Last Game of Thrones Books Will Have Unicorns In Them, Kind of

After Game of Thrones has ended and the audience isn’t pleased with how it played out, everyone is left waiting for the books to come out. They are hoping that George R.R. Martin will give them an ending that would be different and much more satisfying that what HBO managed to do for the show. And Martin has broken the silence on his blog entitled “Not a Blog”.  He has stated how the books will be different; namely we’ll see some unicorns, kind of. It would be an interesting addition to the Westeros universe already ladden with dragons, the Night King and whatever the Three-Eyed Raven is supposed to be.

The Books Will Have Something The Show Doesn’t

Since, the books are an entirely different medium than the show itself, it will definitely have some things that the TV show failed to give us. The in-depth and enriched story telling that we didn’t get to see in the last season of Game of Thrones would definitely be present in the last books. A lot of characters that we never even got to see in the show on our screens will continue their stories in the pages of the last Game of Thrones books.

When asked if the ending of Game of Thrones would be different in the books than in the TV show, Martin had this interesting answer to give us:

Well… yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes.

That certainly provides hope for those who didn’t love Game of Thrones season 8. Due to a lot of more detail in the books, we are expecting some things to play out differently. But the major and broad endings may be the same. But let’s be honest, if unicorns come into the mix, it would be really exciting!

There are characters who never made it onto the screen at all, and others who died in the show but still live in the books… so if nothing else, the readers will learn what happened to Jeyne Poole, Lady Stoneheart, Penny and her pig, Skahaz Shavepate, Arianne Martell, Darkstar, Victarion Greyjoy, Ser Garlan the Gallant, Aegon VI, and a myriad of other characters both great and small that viewers of the show never had the chance to meet. And yes, there will be unicorns… of a sort…

Ending Different Or the Same?

Bran the Broken (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) would probably still be on the Iron Throne for the six kingdoms and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) might still be killed at the hands of her lover Jon Snow/Aegon Targaryen (Kit Harrington). But with George R.R. Martin writing it, we’re sure that we wouldn’t be as angered at the ending. Maybe, Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), would ride on a unicorn to kill the Night King! That would make more sense than us having to believe that she came out of literally nowhere.

George R.R. Martin did not address the huge criticism the show has been receiving due to its fast-paced final season. Though, George R.R. Martin has stated that us asking what the real ending would be is quite ‘silly’.

Book or show, which will be the “real” ending? It’s a silly question. How many children did Scarlett O’Hara have? How about this? I’ll write it. You read it. Then everyone can make up their own mind, and argue about it on the internet.

Well, either way, the internet is discussing Game of Thrones in every which way already.

Hopefully, George R.R. Martin would be able to offer some peace to the passionate fans demanding the show to be remade. Plus, we’ll see unicorns!

That mysterious Azhor Azhai ‘the prince who was promised’ better be riding on a damn unicorn in those books, George R.R. Martin. We need that.
