Norman Lear Is Confident For This Contemporary Remake
Lear is too optimistic for this revival. He has commented in the following words:
They have said over and over again that these two shows were meant for the 70’s and would not work today. We disagree with them and are here to prove, with two great casts depicting ‘All in the Family’ and ‘The Jeffersons,’ the timelessness of human nature.
All In The Family
The Jimmy Kimmel favorite and the time-honored sitcom “All in the Family” was the first comic portrayal of feminism and racism. The show talked about women’s rights and homosexuality. The award-winning comedy re-shaped the ongoing political and social thinking of American families in the post-civil rights period. Archie Bunker from All in the Family was a self-assertive working-class family head. He failed to convince his views to his so-called liberal son-in-law. Archie’s wife Edith consoled her husband at this moment and sanely understood Archie’s traditional beliefs.
The success of All in the Family became the root cause of the development of another iconic sitcom The Jeffersons ( 1975 to 1985), one of the longest running TV show on African-American theme. It has a distinction of debuting an interracial couple as it’s characters. The series, hence, followed George and Louise Jefferson surviving in the dominating white atmosphere. The series modified the American thinking about race and class.
It’s A Dream Come True For Jimmy Kimmel
According to Jimmy Kimmel, many Oscar winners excitingly agreed to play these unforgettable characters. Kimmel further elaborates his views in the following statement:
To be a part of this is a dream come true for me and for everyone involved.
