Lauv Talks About His New Single and His Struggle With Mental Health Issues
In a recent interview with Forbes, the singer talked about the message behind his latest single and the music video. He also shared his experience around breaking the stigma attached to talking about one’s mental health issues. He said,
I was going through a period struggling with obsessive anxiety and depression. It was important for me to talk about that because one of the steps for me to get better was accepting the idea of medication.
The 24-year-old singer’s new single, ‘Drugs and the Internet‘ speaks about the toxic nature of using social media and how it affects oneself and their mental states. When talking about his new song, the American singer said that during the writing period he was going through a very rough patch in life.
I wrote the song a while ago when I was not in a great head space. I had just gotten off tour and I was reflecting on how easy it was to become so self-obsessed with the way you present yourself to the world.
The music video of the song takes place in a neon dystopian universe with robotic-like mannequins and some hairless sphinx cats.
Earlier this year Lauv and Troy Sivan teamed up for collaborative track “I’m so tired.”
