Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy will get its own epic TV adaptation at BBC and HBO later this year. The fantasy adventure series, which boasts a glitzy star cast, including James McAvoy, Ruth Wilson, Lin Manuel Miranda, and Dafne Keen, will fill up the hole The Game Of Thrones will leave behind. As for now, there is no word from the parent networks about the release date for His Dark Materials. But considering the distinctly noticeable, improved marketing tactics, we see the date inching closer. Recently, His Dark Materials cast member, Lin Manuel Miranda has spoken up about his part in the show. And while doing so, he also alerted fans to be on a lookout for some substantial information
Broadway Sensation Lin Manuel Miranda
The Broadway musical’s maestro Lin Manuel Miranda would stage a full-fledged TV comeback with the epic. Although Miranda has frequently guest-starred on several TV shows, his last regular role dates back to 2013, where he played Ruben Marcado on the NBC drama, Do No Harm.
Miranda has also been actively involved with Gloria Calderon Kellett, in her attempts to reclaim her cancelled Netflix comedy, One Day At A Time. Currently, Miranda’s biographical mini-series, Fosse/ Verdon is doing wonders at FX, pulling in praise for its indispensable spirit and glamour. Before his executive outing, Miranda was also a part of Mary Poppins Returns, where he performed on several tracks from the film’s title album.
Lin Manuel Miranda As Balloonist Lee Scoresby On BBC And HBO’s His Dark Materials
Lin Manuel Miranda will soon join James McAvoy for BBC & HBO’s His Dark Materials. Miranda will play the Texian Balloonist, Lee Scoresby. Whereas, Hester, an arctic hare, will feature as his dæmon. It is currently unknown how closely would the series follow its source material. But if the character sketches are much in line with the novel, we can expect Miranda’s Scoresby to be a savior, a real aid to Lyra. While writing the character, Philip Pullman had drawn inspiration from actor Lee Van Cleef and arctic explorer William Scoresby. It is hence; a great responsibility to live up to Pullman’s envisioned persona of the character.
Lin Manuel Miranda has himself, recently expressed his excitement about portraying Scoresby on-screen.
Oof, I can't wait for you all to see this.
