Rihanna and LVMH Introduce Fenty Clothing Line
Even in 2019, the fashion industry may be up for some ‘firsts’. Although Met Gala was enough proof that fashion industry is progressing, Rihanna has some more evidence to offer. The pop singer has announced her first official brand under luxury fashion house LVMH. This partnership with the historic LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton fashion house makes her the first woman of color to have a label under LVMH. But that’s not it- this makes her the first woman of color to introduce an original brand for the world’s largest luxury group.
Rihanna Announces Fenty Luxury Clothing Line Under LVMH
Rumors and speculation of a Rihanna and LVMH collab have been on way since January. The pop singer was spotted sporting pair of luxe sunglasses with Fenty imprinted on the frames. Finally, Rihanna has given out a confirmation call to the speculation announcing that a Fenty Luxury Line was soon coming to a runway in Paris on 22nd May. While speaking of this new collection, the singer and designer claims to have kept no artistic limits in mind. Further, this line is centered on Rihanna, developed by her, and takes shape with her vision in terms of ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories, including commerciality and communication of the brand.
Fenty will be the first fashion brand since 1987 that’s been built from the ground under the LVMH brand. Since Fenty Beauty Line also lives under the LVMH umbrella, this clothing collaboration does not come off as a surprise. While speaking of the collab, the LVMH Chairman and Chief Executive Bernard Arnault applauded Rihanna for being a true entrepreneur. He added that,
Everybody knows Rihanna as a wonderful singer, but through our partnership at Fenty Beauty, I discovered a true entrepreneur, a real CEO, and a terrific leader. She naturally finds her full place within LVMH.
In response to this, Rihanna thanked Arnault for believing in her, and allowing her to work with him in LVMH. She believes that the introduction of a new Fenty Luxury Clothing Line under LVMH was a big day for culture.
The new Fenty collection will make its retail debut on the same day as its launch. But the distribution centers for the brand still have not been revealed.
