Aidan Gallagher Releases The Umbrella Academy Inspired Song Titled Time
Aidan Gallagher is focusing on his music career now that Umbrella Academy wrapped up its season 1. He is releasing songs back to back! It doesn’t look like he will be slowing down anytime soon. Plus, he is all set to release his 3rd track titled Time on May 10th, 2019.
Gallagher has teamed up with AltPress to share the song and a My Chemical Romance inspired video. It will be the 3rd official song and the 2nd official video of Gallagher this year. Time is inspired by Netflix Original Series The Umbrella Academy. He played the character of Number 5 in the series. Since Number 5 had the ability to jump through time and space, the song titled Time is an ode to his character.
AltPress Shares Exclusive Interview With Aidan Gallagher
The song will officially hit streaming services on May 10th, 2019. However, AltPress has premiered the original video of the track exclusively available on their site along with the interview of Aidan Gallagher. AP has also shared what inspired Gallagher to work on Time.
I wrote Time while I was filming season 1 of The Umbrella Academy in Toronto. Because of the show, I spent a lot of thinking about the concept of time. The song really does speak to The Umbrella Academy plot but also about being young and looking into the future.
The video aesthetics depict time through quick and blurry movements, resembling the time traveling sequences we saw in Umbrella Academy.
Gallagher explains how the idea of time and space is showcased in his video:
Because time is linked with space, the video is shot in a black space with a single spotlight and me moving through that time and space. Because time is a sort of nothingness, yet it’s clearly existing when something is there cutting through it. Time could be the hidden fabric of the universe.
Gallagher covers the time’s ability to appear simultaneously fast and slow. Hence, the video relies heavily on how everyone perceives the complicated concept of time.
We thought it would be cool to show me performing with lots of edits that contrasted with blur techniques to show movement through time. Time is fast and slow and blurry and clear all at the same time. And my moving through time and space is what shows you something is going on in that moment. So you see me in different ways, different filters, different angles constantly moving because time doesn’t sit still when something is moving through it.
Where to listen Time before release?
The song isn’t officially released since the release date is still a week away. But you can listen to the unlisted version of the song here.
Aidan Gallagher has written and composed the song himself. The song is co-produced, mixed & mastered by David Chamberlin. Rob Gallagher (Aidan’s Father) directed and edited the video while Lauren Gallagher (Aidan’s Mother) has handled all of the creative direction.
My Chemical Romance Important Inspiration For Gallagher
Gallagher is truly inspired by My Chemical Romance and his actions speak the same. He officially launched his music career with the release of his first track Blue Neon on March 22, 2019. It is the same date when the band announced their breakup. Their influence on Gallagher continues through Time as he plans to write music as influential as the band.
Their music resonates, and by that, I mean it echoes in your mind after it reaches and articulates your feelings. I aspire to write music that does that. I think the video looks like it’s inspired by their Vampires Will Never Hurt You and yet captures my own vibe too.
Aidan Gallagher’s Upcoming Release
Gallagher has released four club versions of his original track Blue Neon this year. The duet with Trinity Rose titled Miss You was released on April 26, 2019. He has two more releases in books; Time releasing on May 10th and For You releasing on 7th June. He is also planning for more songs. However, he wants to shoot a video with story acting like MCR’s Na Na Na.
