Joe King Goes Bald For The Act
Hats off! to Joe King. As a matter of fact, Joey King, The Kissing Booth fame has shaved her head for her role of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, a victim of Munchausen’s by proxy via her mother, in Hulu’s The Act.
Calum Worthy did a lot of homework to play this role. He explained to Vanity Fair
“I spent literally two months leading up to filming my first episode investigating who Nick is. I wrote an essay—that was pretty much five pages long—about Nick, based off all of my research, I wouldn’t be doing the autistic community justice until I’d exhausted every resource for research.”
Surprisingly, Joey is very enthusiastic to play Gypsy Blanchard.
King, in fact, announced, “My name for the next 4 months, is Gypsy Rose Blanchard,”
“I know this sounds crazy, and not a lot of people will agree with me, but I think every woman should shave her head at least once in her life,”
King will be playing the character of a real person who in fact, had no hair. Blanchard’s mother, reportedly, shaved her daughter’s head to show that her daughter had leukemia. However, the real victim is not suffering from the disease.
Audiences hence acknowledged her commendable looks and acting as Rose and as a thankful response King shared the following Tweet.
I can’t even begin to try and tell you how all of your reactions to The Act has made me feel. Thank you so much for all your kind words, I’m overwhelmed and I can’t stop smiling. My heart is so full #HappyTears
