His Dark Materials On BBC & HBO; Release Date, Cast, Trailers And Everything Else That You Want To Know

HBO and BBC’s new programming line-up boasts a roster of multiple big-ticket, magnum opera. There are several shows in the pipeline, waiting to see the light of the day. But out of all of them, the one which has managed to grab the most attention is the televised version of Philip Pullman’s fantasy trilogy, ‘His Dark Materials’

Last year, BBC One commissioned Pullman’s volume to life, appointing New Line Cinemas to helm the big-budget show. Soon, HBO joined the bandwagon, acquiring the rights to broadcast the eight-part series in America and to distribute it elsewhere. Production went on floors in March while filming continued till early October. Once, the cast and crew had wrapped up shoot for the show’s freshman season, the networks, HBO and BBC, renewed the show for another one.

His Dark Materials Release Date

Even though His Dark Materials has been renewed for a second season ahead of its release, its networks haven’t spilled the beans about its release date. Sources; however, often cite that HBO is probably waiting for Game of Thrones to conclude before it can announce the release date for His Dark Materials.

Cast And Crew

The production house has arranged, for the show, a diverse and skilled team of craftsmen to run its gears, Primarily presenting the show are Julie Gardner, the woman who revived Doctor Who for TV, and Jane Tranter, the woman who has served BBC as its executive vice president of programming. His Dark Materials has recruited a fine crop of seasoned actors to depict Pullman’s book. The show found its central nemesis, Lord Asriel, in the brilliant James McAvoy. McAvoy will stage a full-fledged TV return as a part of ‘His Dark Materials’ cast. Joining James McAvoy is The Affair star, Ruth Wilson. Wilson will play the dynamic and dangerous antagonist, Marissa Coulter.

Dafne Keen, who last appeared as Wolverine’s daughter in Marvel’s Logan, will play the hero, Lyra. The series will also star the Tony-award winning Broadway sensation, Lin-Manuel Miranda. Miranda will play a balloonist and explorer, Lee Scoresby.

His Dark Materials Trailer

Even though BBC One remains silent about the ‘His Dark Materials’ release date, it has released a teaser for the show. The 31 seconds of footage doesn’t reveal a lot, except for offering a sneak-peek into who will be on the show. But what they do reveal is how closely the series will follow its source material.
