American Princess To Reintroduce Scripted Originals On Lifetime
Lifetime hasn’t really been lucky with its scripted originals for some time now. The ones that work, for instance, the riveting psychological thriller ‘You’, get acquired by more well-heeled streamers and networks (Netflix, in this particular case). And the ones that fail the litmus-test, simply face the axe (think The Witches Of East End). Fiction shows air only in syndication on Lifetime currently, as the network’s scripted originals’ slate is fairly empty. The subscription TV is; however, now gearing up for some exclusive action- something it desperately needs to do in order to survive amid menacing competition from other streaming giants. For the first time since its last original ‘You’ shifted to Netflix for its season 2, Lifetime will launch an original scripted series: A Jamie Denbo Dramedy, ‘American Princess’. The Plot Of The Lifetime Show
American Princess follows Amanda, an Upper East Side socialite, who abandons her wedding after finding out that the man she was going to marry is cheating on her. Instead, she joins a Renaissance Faire but she hasn’t full thought out this plan.
As she is aimlessly walking the Faire without any phone or help, she finds out that the tabloids are making her failed wedding spectacle the main headline.
The plot then turns into something exciting:
“She soon discovers her outburst has made tabloid headlines and experiences a nervous breakdown. This subsequently leads her to re-evaluate her life. The unexpected awakening leads Amanda to leave everything she thought she cared about behind. It also configures Amanda to become the Faire’s newest wench-in-waiting. “
Trailer, Future And Fate
The first trailer of the series came out on February 9th, and that allowed us to make some assumptions. American Princess, in general, will have to deal with a lot of burden when it eventually premieres on Lifetime.
The project is the American debut of Australian TV actress Georgia Flood. Hence, a part of its performance will direct the future of the debutante on American TV. The dramedy will additionally, also have to improvise fresh gags and undertones to separate itself from The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. The premise hints strongly towards inevitable comparisons. Thus to be able to stand-out as a spectacle of its own, the show will have to continually experiment with its basic socialite-meets-the-common concept. You Season 2
