“Leave What You Can for Your Room Service Providers” – Oswalt

Many people work hard to even earn the minimum wage. And many earn their income mostly through tips. The society we live in is where a materialistic culture is quite regularly promoted as celebrities tend to flex their wealth and their lavish lifestyles. However, we can appreciate the stand-up comedian Patton Oswalt to point out how we should tip more for services we don’t seem to think much about.

Oswalt was staying at the Hotel Congress and uploaded a picture to his Instagram. He appreciated the Hotel for how beautiful it was. But he also acknowledged it for putting out small envelopes; reminders to always tip the room service providers.

Why Should we Leave Behind a Higher Tip?

Many service industry workers – whether it be in the food industry or the hotel business – also have to deal with difficult customers. It’s not always easy to plaster a fake smile and take care of the mess you make. For many, tips are their primary source of income. Even at places like Hotel Congress. And if they’re good at their job, they deserve appreciation. After all, they took care of you and cleaned up the mess you made.

Housekeepers work grueling hours, clean up the worst, and don’t even make a living wage so those tips count!

It really isn’t much. But it’s nice to appreciate people who are working super hard to make ends meet whenever we are able to.
