It seems like the hopes of the people who were circulating speculations regarding a film collaboration happening between Mindy Kaling and Priyanka Chopra have finally become a reality as Chopra and Kaling both take to announce the project on social media, with writer and television producer Dan Goor, under Universal Pictures. The two versatile actresses are set to co-star in a film together. And guess what? The story will be around a big fat Indian wedding!
It’s Crazy Rich Asians meet My Big Fat Greek Wedding
The film is set to be one of a comedic nature; revolving around a grand wedding in India. We’ll definitely see the consequential cultural clashes that will follow, creating a very nuanced story.
Upon the reports of Universal Pictures winning the auction for the pitch, it was described as “Crazy Rich Asians meets My Big Fat Greek Wedding”. The details of the film are still under wraps. However, Priyanka Chopra took to twitter to announce the future project.

Mindy Kaling Major Part of the Screenwriting Process
The actress-producer will also have the option to direct the film. She’s already screenwriting role with Dan Goor, who is the co-creator and executive producer of the hit comedy cop show, Brooklyn Nine-Nine. If he’s on board too, we can for sure expect this film to be one for the laughs.
Kaling will be producing this film under her label of Kaling International, Chopra for Purple Pebble Pictures and Dan Goor along with Howard Klein for 3Arts. Heather Morris and Nina Anand Aujla will also be executive producers of the film.
