April Fool’s pranks can be bad; in fact, very bad if one is being pulled by the cast of Umbrella Academy. The superhero drama has recently been renewed for a Season 2, but the renewal did not come without a bit of a shocker. In an extremely frightening April Fool’s prank, Justin H Min posted a picture of Instagram claiming that Netflix has cancelled Umbrella Academy. For the very immediate moments, there was instantaneous public outrage. Soon; however, fans picked-up that the announcement was just another Umbrella way to troll them.
Justin H. Min Trolls The Umbrella Academy Fans
Netflix’s latest hit, The Umbrella Academy, is an adaptation of the comic book series of the same name. The show follows the lives of a dysfunctional family of adopted sibling superheroes who reunite to solve the mystery of their father’s death and the threat of an impending apocalypse. David Castañeda and Justin H. Min both play siblings on the show. While Castañeda is a main cast member, Min recurs as Ben Hargreeves (Number Six) on the show.
Yesterday, to fool the fans of Umbrella Academy across the globe, Justin H Min posted a picture which read,
“When Cassie heard we aren’t coming back for Season 2. Apocalypse, take us now.”
Given that Netflix has only renewed Umbrella Academy for a season 2, just today, an understandable panic followed the post. Fans even went to ahead to say that if it wasn’t an April fool’s joke, they would sue Netflix. (Netflix has obviously not been on good terms with its subscribers ever since it has cancelled their favourite One Day At A Time.) A fan even wrote that he would make an Umbrella Academy Season 2 on his own if Netflix even thinks about axing it.
The Umbrella Academy Renewed For A Season 2 On Netflix
Netflix has renewed The Umbrella Academy for a season 2, with production beginning this summer in Toronto, just today. All seven main cast members are set to reprise their roles. The second season will be ten episodes and each an hour long, just like the first. Steve Blackman will return as showrunner and executive producer.
Why Is The Umbrella Academy So Important For Netflix
Renewing The Umbrella Academy is one good deed that might salvage Netflix from its impending doom. The cancellation of One Day At A Time has caused heads to turn. And with rumors being rife about Netflix creating hurdles for One Day At A Time as it struggles to find a new home in CBS All Access, CW, or Pop, the situation is just about to get worse.
