American Housewife & American Idol to Crossover This Week
American Housewife Season 3 is all set to return this Tuesday on ABC. This comeback will; however, not happen without an exciting surprise. As it airs again, the ABC sitcom will meet the singing competition American Idol in a unique reality-fiction crossover. Aptly titled ‘American Idol’, the 15th episode of the sitcom is a part of its musical theme. In fact, the upcoming episode will also feature American Idol Season 17 judges Ryan Seacrest, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie as guest stars. ABC had initially confirmed the same in a press release earlier.
Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie To Cameo In American Housewife Season 3
ABC is leaving no stone unturned to publicize the appearance of Ryan Seacrest, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie on American Housewife Season 3. The episode will follow Taylor Otto (Meg Donnelly) reaching up the American Idol Season 17 stage in the pursuit of recognition for her musical ambitions.
The official synopsis says,
“While Greg enlists Oliver and Anna-Kat’s help to drum up new recruits for the Westport Historical Guild. Katie does her best to support Taylor’s dreams of becoming the next American Idol.”
While Katie will be eventually supporting her daughter in her aspirations, she will initially be shown in a darker light. Katie will not entertain the idea of Taylor (Meg Donnelly) using her college funds to sponsor her trip to LA. But towards the end of the episode, she will transition from being insecure to becoming supportive of Taylor’s dreams.
Meg Donnelly Reflects Upon The State Of Real Contestants On American Idol Season 17.
Shooting before Ryan Seacrest, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie was a surreal experience for Meg Donnelly. While she was nervous at the beginning, she was able to overcome her fears by stepping into her character.
Meg Donnelly shared,
“I was going to be in front of the actual judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Katy Perry. So, when I found that out, I started freaking out. I was so nervous because these people are so incredible. But It’s really cool, because I went in as my character. I did the whole, ‘My name is Taylor Otto, and I’m 16.’
Donnelly also spoke about how the experience is different for real time contestants. While she was allowed multiple shots to get the scene perfect, actual contestants have only one chance so messing up is not an option.
American Housewife Season 3 Finale
Once it wraps up its American Idol episode, American Housewife Season 3 will broadcast its second musical themed episode as its finale. The season finale episode, “A Mom’s Parade,” will air on May 21. That half-hour will feature four original songs by renowned composer Justin Paul (The Greatest Showman, Dear Evan Hansen.) and Glenn Slater (Tangled, School of Rock-The Musical). Ashley Wallen (La La Land, The Greatest Showman) will choreograph the sequences.
