The queen of rapping has done it again. After getting a Grammy for Best Rap Album, the rapper wins an award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. The ‘Hip-Hop Artist of the Year’ win might not have surprised anyone but it was something new to hear Cardi B thank her haters.

The singer could unfortunately not attend the ceremony herself, but being Cardi B she did leave us with an iconic moment. We could see Cardi B giving her acceptance speech in her unique excited and joyful manner.

She started off her speech with showing gratitude to iHeartRadio Music for giving her the award and her fans.  As the singer went along, she said,

“You know, I gotta thank my haters, you know what I’m saying, because y’all be saying mean things, y’all be thinking that those mean things is gonna discourage me. But that just means we go harder. Because if everybody gave me compliments, then, you know, I get comfortable.”

Perhaps, Cardi B is the hip-hop and modern version of Socrates for this generation. Beneath the savagery of it all, thanking her haters actually holds a wise lesson. She’s converting the negative energy from the haters into something productive. Instead of being discouraged, she uses the haters to push herself to work harder.

That’s a message we could all get behind!

And yes, Cardi B ended her speech with a move only she could pull off. She cackled in joy and licked the trophy she got from iHeartRadio Music.

iHeartRadio Music Awards is a music award show celebrating music that’s been heard through iHeartMedia radio stations. The event took place on March 15th this year.
