Orlando Bloom Got The Inspiration for Katy Perry’s Engagement Ring From His Ex
Don’t know how you spent your Valentine’s Day but Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom apparently got engaged! That’s right, Bloom finally popped the question last week! The pair each posted a photo on their official Instagram accounts that clued fans in to the fact that they are engaged.
The photo shows a super close-up of parts of their faces, with Katy Perry appearing teary-eyed and sporting a ring. Perry’s caption reads “full bloom,” while Bloom’s says, “Lifetimes.”
According to what a source told People magazine, Orlando Bloom had been planning to propose “for a while”. They said he even asked Perry’s parents’ permission before the proposal.
When he did, Perry was apparently “shaking with happiness”.
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom started dating in 2016 and reportedly split 10 months later. They reunited in early 2018. It will be second marriages for both. Perry was married to comedian Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012. Meanwhile, Bloom was married to model Miranda Kerr from 2010 to 2013. The pair share a son, Flynn, who was born in 2011.
The Engagement Ring Controversy
Katy Perry posted a photo of the ring, showing off its 4-carat pink jewel center surrounded by eight white diamonds. The ring reportedly costed US $5 million ($7.3 m). But the classic floral design seemed a little too similar to the ring Bloom bought for ex-wife Miranda Kerr, when he proposed to her.
Both of the dazzling rings had the same flower design, but featured different jewels and diamonds. People spotted the similarity, and wondered whether Bloom had actually re-used his previous ring.
Did Orlando Bloom just reuse his engagement ring to Miranda Kerr and change the centre stone for Katy Perry? #Awks

Lol kinda funny to see how Orlando gave Miranda Kerr the same “blooming flower” ring design but in a different color than Katy’s pic.twitter.com/9nOqP60yHt
