Father of Murdered Son Explains to Louis C.K. Why Joking About Dead Kids Isn’t Okay
So Louis C.K. did another thing that was not okay apart from indulging in sexual misconduct for years. The disgraced comedian did a joke that mocked the kids who survived the Parkland Shooting that took place on 14th February 2018 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School which killed 17 students and staff members. He didn’t understand why the Parkland survivors deserve special attention for just surviving a school shooting. If anyone needs a definition of insensitive jokes that should never be uttered, it’s Louis C.K.
Insensitive Joke Louis C.K. Made
One Daily Beast writer talked about how Louis C.K. made a joke in a recent stand-up comedy routine.
“If you ever need people to forget that you jerked off, what you do is you make a joke about kids that got shot,”
And back in December, Louis C.K. condemned Parkland survivors of testifying before Congress.
“What are you doing? You’re young. You should be crazy, unhinged. Not in a suit, saying ‘I’m here to tell…’” C.K. said in the audio clip. “You’re not interesting because you went to a high school where kids got shot. Why does that mean I have to listen to you? How does that make you interesting. You didn’t get shot. You pushed some fat kid in the way and then, now I gotta listen to you talking?”
Father of Murdered Son Explains To Louis C.K. Why Joking About Murdered Kids Is Never Okay
Parkland dad Manuel Oliver, lost his son Jaoquin to the mass shooting that took place in Parkland last year. Instead of directly bashing Louis C.k., Manuel Oliver took a different approach.
In a promotional video by ChangeTheRef.org, an organization Manuel and his wife created in Joaquin’s memory to advocate for gun control, Manuel Oliver explained why it is never okay to joke about dead kids.
Louis C.K. Has No Empathy
Louis C.K. has once again proven that he is actually not capable of being a better human and learning from his mistakes.
Comedy is never an excuse to joke about young children who had their life taken away from them. If he imagines for only a moment how he would feel if his daughters had died in a school shooting, then he would understand how inhumane he was being.
He already faced a lot of criticism when he confessed to masturbating in front of women for years and years. People were hoping for a behavior change or an apology that made a difference, but we did not get any of that. Instead, Louis C.K. made a surprising and unwanted return to the comedy circle.
