Everybody’s hot favorite actor Tom Cruise made a surprise appearance at the 10th Advanced Imaging Society Awards. And that too, to present the honorary Harold Lloyd Award for achievement in filmmaking to his Mission: Impossible Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie. But well, that wasn’t the only trophy that this movie was taking home that night. Cruise and McQuarrie also won the best scene Award for Fallout’s final helicopter chase sequence. To be very fair, it’s safe to say that both the actor and director spent their winning speeches and the rest of the evening praising one another for their contribution to the film.

Tom Cruise Presented his Mission: Impossible Fallout Director With the Filmmaking Achievement Award

At the Advanced Imaging Society Awards held Wednesday night at the Steven J. Ross Theater at Warner Bros. Studios, Mission: Impossible Fallout made quite a few marks. First Tom Cruise presented his director Christopher McQuarrie with the honorary Harold Lloyd Award for achievement in filmmaking. While presenting this, the Top Gun actor appreciated his director for applying cutting edge technology beautifully. And also, for respecting the audience and understanding that story is everything. But well, McQuarrie responded with the same enthusiasm sharing that his biggest piece of technology was Cruise himself.

The director added that,

I have an unfair advantage. Whatever we come up with, Tom’s response is ‘Yeah, I’ll do that. How are you going to shoot it?’ That sets in motion the development of new technology.

During the evening, Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise also received the award for best scene/sequence for the same Mission: Impossible Fallout movie. It’s thrilling final helicopter chase scene won. And the director thanked New Zealand for being the only country that let them shoot the helicopter sequence.

Other films that took home awards included A Star is Born, Black Panther and Ralph Breaks the Internet.
