New Pepsi Superbowl Commercial Featuring Cardi B is Out
After much controversy, Cardi B refused to perform at the halftime Superbowl show. She declined the offer based on ethical grounds to show solidarity to the disgraced Colin Kaepernick who was fired for protesting again racial injustice. Although she won’t be performing, she still starred in the Pepsi Superbowl commercial. Ahead of the big event, the commercial dropped yesterday. And stars Steve Carrell in a lead role alongside the Bodak Yellow rapper. Although the full commercial focuses more on Carrell, it features a fun use of her signature catchphrase ‘Okurr’.
With only a few days to go for the big event, the sponsor Pepsi is definitely hyping things up. The full commercial begins with a diner patron ordering Coke in a restaurant when the waiter inquires if bringing him Pepsi would be okay. Right then, Steve Carrell emerges from the next booth making an entire speech on all the things that are OK. He then criticized the waiter for not sounding excited enough when asking if Peps was OK which should apparently be delivered with pride. He then gets an enthusiastic OK from Lil Jon and an ‘Okurr’ from Cardi B. Although Carrell tried to replicate her Okurr, he failed. And then laments,
“I’ve gotta come up with my own catchphrase.”
Looks like the Money Bag rapper is all over Superbowl this year despite passing on the Halftime show. Apart from the commercial, she’ll be performing at the Superbowl music festival. You can watch the whole commercial below.
