Resident Evil Series at Works in Netflix
According to reports, Netflix is gearing up to develop a new Resident Evil TV series. And what makes it even better that Constantin Film- the studio behind the Resident Evil films is behind it. However, other than this, there is absolutely no information revealed for this upcoming Netflix series. In fact, a confirmed announcement related to this has not even been made yet. But speculation and supposed clues taken from the vague information suggest that similar to the movies, the show will also only use Resident Evil games just as a loose template. The series will be a global Netflix original as the company is developing a scripted series based on the hit action horror franchise.
What is Netflix Planning for the Upcoming ‘Resident Evil’ TV Series?
As per reports, Netflix has already decided to develop an original ‘Resident Evil’ TV series. And the studio is the same- the German production and distribution company Constantin Film, which is behind the Resident Evil movies loosely based on the Capcom video game series. To overlook this adaptation, the company is still searching for a showrunner. However, no details about the cast, the team, the plot or premiere are out. But speculation says that this TV series will expand the Resident Evil universe and deepen the exiting mythology.
Netflix may keep the basic premise the same which acted as a setup for the movie franchise. But this time it will explore the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus. The project is still just in its early stages. But it seems like they will combine almost all of the Resident Evil signature elements including the Easter eggs.
The Resident Evil film franchise has a total of six films with the first one coming out in 2002. Overall, they earned $1.2 billion worldwide for all of them which is to date to rank as the highest-grossing film series ever based on a video game.
