Salma Hayek Congratulates Yalitza Aparicio for 2019 Oscar Nomination

The news of Oscars 2019 has been buzzing around and people were happy to see that Roma actress Yalitza Aparicio got nominated for an Oscar for best actress. To date, she’s the second Mexican actress to earn this high honor. The first one is Salma Hayek who scored a nomination for her portrayal of the tortured artist Frida Kahlo in the 2002 movie Frida.  And, thanks to internet we saw Salma Hayek congratulate Yalitza Aparicio for her Oscar nomination.

Yalitza Aparicio Following in Salma Hayek’s Footsteps

Salma Hayek made history in 2003. She became the first Mexican-American actress to earn a nomination for an Oscar for her role as Frida Kahlo in Frida. Even though Nicole Kidman ended up winning that Oscar for The Hours.

Now, Roma is standing with 10 Oscar nominations in the 91st Annual Academy Awards. Roma has already snatched a few Critics’ Choice Awards and Golden Globes. And will probably win a few Oscars as well. And everyone is definitely rooting for this Mexican actress who gave a brilliant performance as Cleo in Roma. She’s proudly following Salma Hayek’s footsteps who paved the way for Mexican actresses in Hollywood.

Furthermore, it’s endearing to witness how Salma Hayek is offering her endless support to fellow Mexican actress Aparicio instead of feeling threatened. Hayek is an embodiment of what it means to stay true to your heritage. Additionally, she is truly a supporter of women empowerment.
