HBO Just Made Ben Schwartz Realize He’ll Always be Jean Ralphio!

HBO was doing it’s own Netflix Twitter thing where it pretends to be your friend as a marketing tool for it’s company. That’s when HBO, in honor of remembering The Sopranos, asked fans to send in their names to receive special Soprano themed nick names. Ben Schwartz gave in his name and, well got dissed by HBO as a result.

Just when I thought I was out… they pull me back in.

HBO gave him a nickname surely. But it wasn’t what you were expecting. Jean Ralphio isn’t a character from The Sopranos but it is a hilarious character Ben Schwartz played on the sitcom Parks and Recreation.

Dedicated fans of Park and Recreation would recognize this character immediately. He often helped Aziz Ansari’s character Tom Haverford make terrible business decisions! Here is a clip of Jean Ralphio to jog your memory.

And here’s a collection of Jean Ralphio singing moments that will explain why Ben Schwartz isn’t a big fan of his own character.

Say what you will about the numerous flaws of Jean Ralphio, he still knew how to have a good time. His baseless confidence is what made him an entertaining spectacle for us on Parks and Recreation.

But, HBO was indeed savage to diss Ben Schwartz like that! I for one am glad that we’re living in an age where networks have a sense of humor on social media networks and aren’t afraid to throw out any disses.
